two recent podcast interviews have gone up this week, one with OK Fox and Lucia Love of Art & Labor during my recent visit to New York City, where we chatted about TCAF, the Queers & Comics Conference, the #FreeBritney movement, and gentrification in our respective cities. you can check that out here!
the other interview was from a couple months with Inkstuds, where we talked about my artistic influences, coming of age in Toronto, the Hungry Bottom Comics series, and some of my recent projects. you can check that out here.

“Nothing constrains Eric Kostiuk Williams. His cartooning is never less than near-infinitely adapatable, fluid, mercurial — maybe literally, as his forms, figures, even structures seem liquid at room temperature, ever in a state of joyous flux, refusing to define themselves and embracing the joyous possibilities of being whatever their whims allow them to be.
“Dull” is not a word in Eric Kostiuk Williams’ vocabulary, and that’s not just true on a surface level, its rejection on a conceptual level is at the very core of his overall artistic project.”
thanks to Ryan C from Four Color Apocalypse for his review of the new book!

The AV Club has presented an exclusive preview of Our Wretched Town Hall, along with a thoughtful write-up on the book from critic Oliver Sava:
“Eric Kostiuk Williams’ comics are visually defined by their malleability. His forms shine like latex and stretch like taffy, and his stories take place in surreal, psychedelic environments that morph as time passes. That fluid visual aesthetic ties into major themes of his work like gender expression, queer culture, and urban preservation and development, all of which involve people and places in a constant state of change. His new book from Retrofit, Our Wretched Town Hall, collects a variety of his short comics and illustrations, spotlighting his signature style and his skill at telling stories full of emotion and atmosphere in a very short page count.”
Our Wretched Town Hall will be premiering at Comic Arts Brooklyn on Sunday, November 11, with wider release later in the month.
